•Aquaponics is a combination of aquaculture, the raising of aquatic species in a controlled environment and hydroponics, the growing of plants in soil-less media. In an aquaponics systems we re-circulate the water from the fish tank into the plant grow beds to help provide beneficial nutrients for the plants. The plants and media act as a biological filter for the fish waste. Naturally occurring bacteria, help to convert ammonia in the fish waste into nitrates for the plants. The water is then returned clean back to the fish tank. It is a symbiotic eco-system where the fish help the plants and the plants in turn help the fish.
